THE CHALLENGE

Moli is a manufacturer and installer of resin-bound driveways, patios and paths. Following a recent revamp of their website, Moli was looking to add a ‘quote builder’, which would provide customers with an instant quote and streamline Moli’s lead generation processes.

Moli had a good idea of what they wanted but didn’t have the expertise to deliver the requirements in-house within the tight budget requirements and three-month deadline.

In April 2024, Doza was engaged to deliver the customer-facing quote builder and retrieval.

Approach

Doza assigned two of our expert consultants with experience delivering similar web applications.

At discovery stage, we:

  • Discussed Moli’s ideas and concerns
  • Looked at examples of other sites and features they liked (and didn’t like)
  • Mapped the customer journey
  • Identified what quote information Moli would need
  • Engaged their back-office team to find out how they work and current pain points.

At alpha stage, we built a minimum viable product, allowing us to avoid lengthy development work and make the portals available to users quickly.

For the customer-facing portal, we focussed on making it straight-forward to use and mobile-friendly. We worked through the customer journey to streamline the process.

We recommended a back-end portal (over the original spreadsheet option) to allow better self-management of the information received. We built in several features to provide operational efficiencies, such as automated matching of a request to the nearest surveyor and sending customer information to Klaviyo for future marketing messaging.

During beta, we ran collaborative two-week sprints to develop and test the solution. We provided a staged environment that allowed Moli to test the portals and provide feedback at a time that worked for them. To provide visibility of real-time progress, we set up a shared project board and communicated via a dedicated Slack channel.

Following final user testing, the portals went live in July 2024.

ReSULTS

Outcomes

Key successes:

  • We met all milestones, with a successful, on-time product launch
  • Streamlining the quote process (we removed a third of the original steps) means it now takes just minutes for a customer to complete and receive an instant quote
  • The new costed-demand model only charges Moli when the portal is used. These cost savings have allowed Moli to use their remaining budget on a support and maintenance package.
It's hard when searching for something in areas you just don't know enough about. From initial conversations with Doza to the end product we couldn't be happier! Constant engagement throughout with clarity at every step at the journey. Throughout our project the open dialogue has meant little changes and amends on the fly have been a breeze and we have ended up with exactly what we wanted.
